Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has died at the age of 66




  • Jaitley, who was admitted to AIIMS since August 9, breathed his last at 12 noon on Saturday afternoon.

  New Delhi. Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died in Delhi AIIMS on Saturday. He was 66. He breathed his last at 12 o'clock in the afternoon. Jaitley, who had undergone a kidney transplant, developed cancer. They were placed on a life support system. Recently, many leaders including President Ramnath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah had reached the hospital to know their well being.



Modi is currently in the UAE. He spoke to Jaitley's wife and son over the phone. Both appealed to Modi not to cancel his foreign tour. Modi also has to go to Bahrain after UAE.

President Ramnath Kovind tweeted, "I am shocked to hear the news of Jaitley's death." He was an outstanding lawyer, well-settled MP and outstanding minister. He contributed significantly in making the country. His departure has brought an emptiness in the world of politics and intellectuals. "




He also went to America for treatment of cancer


Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS on August 9 after suffering from shortness of breath. Jaitley was undergoing treatment for soft tissue cancer. He went to New York on 13 January to treat the disease and returned in February. Jaitley had tweeted after returning from America for treatment - happy to be home. He also stopped going to the office in April 2018. His kidney (kidney) transplant was also done at AIIMS on 14 May 2018, he was also suffering from sugar. Jaitley's bariatric surgery was also done in September 2014 due to weight gain.

Jaitley did not attend the celebration of BJP's victory
Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS six months ago for investigation. He was advised by doctors to go to the UK and US for treatment. After the party's victory in the Lok Sabha elections, he was not even seen in the program held in the BJP office. He did not even attend the cabinet meeting. In May 2019, he told Modi that he would not be able to join the new government. After this, Modi reached home to meet him.
